Standing with Our Rangers for the 2025 Wildlife Ranger Challenge at Mashatu

The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is a bold, continent-wide campaign organised by Tusk since 2020. It unites ranger teams from across Africa in a test of endurance, resilience, and solidarity – with the mission to raise crucial funds for those on the frontline of conservation.

At Mashatu Game Reserve, our own Northern Tuli Anti-Poaching Unit (NOTUGRE) proudly steps forward, embodying courage and perseverance as they carry heavy 22 kg back packs across 21 km of rugged terrain—mirroring the daily realities of protecting wildlife.

What the Challenge Entails & Why it Matters

The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is no ordinary race. It’s a physical and symbolic journey that represents the hardships rangers face every day. Teams push themselves through heat and rough landscapes with weighted packs, standing as ambassadors for the resilience of rangers across the continent.

Each kilometre run and each drop of sweat shed symbolises the endurance required of rangers every day for the critical role they play in protecting natural ecosystems, supporting communities, and preserving the wildlife that roams freely.

Funds raised go directly to ranger welfare—providing essential training, equipment, and support needed to perform meaningful daily tasks.
