Many supporters of Mashatu would have dealt with our wonderful head reservationist Mariam Abrahams when booking Mashatu. Let’s get to know a little bit about her.
I head the Mashatu reservations team. My responsibility is to ensure that my team and I handle every enquiry professionally, and that every booking made with Mashatu runs smoothly.
My mom is from Durban and my dad is from Cape Town. I spent most of my childhood and early twenties living in both Durban and Cape Town. After matriculating I went into nursing, but I soon realised that it was the wrong career choice for me. I was quite emotional and got very attached to the patients I was assisting. I then went back to college and straight after writing my last exam, I started working for a company where I remained for 33 years. During those 33 years, I gained experience in administration, imports, exports and forex. When the company invested in a game reserve, I was asked to manage the reservations. Nine years ago, when Mashatu offered me a job in the reservations department, I accepted the position. I felt I needed a change, and like the saying goes, the rest is history.
I am normally at work quite early as it gives me time to check through my e-mails. My day is spent answering enquiries, making reservations and assisting the team with any queries they have. It is our responsibility is to make sure that we have all the guest’s information, such as names, their arrival and departure information, dietaries, medical information and their interests. All this information goes a long way to ensuring guests have a magical time at Mashatu.
Interacting with the Mashatu team and sharing the knowledge I have acquired over the years with our team.
Mashatu has so much to offer. I love fact that guests can stay at all four of our camps and have a completely different experience at each camp, from rustic luxury to a 5 star experience. I love the beautiful landscapes, incredible game viewing and adventure activities. Our rangers have such an infinite knowledge of the reserve.
Zebra
I am not a birder but if I must choose it will be the White-fronted bee-eater, simply because of their beautiful colours.
