Cheetah sightings have been spectacular once again! The mother with her five sub-adult cubs has been seen almost on a daily basis. The cubs are now almost the size of their mother, with only a hint of their mantle remaining. However, they are still full of fun and games, and it is not rare to see them tackling one another whilst their mom keeps a watch for any danger or potential dinner. For the first time cheetahs ventured to the C4 Images & Safaris’ hide and had a drink at the waterhole. Unfortunately the hide was not in use at the time, but it is great to see that they have been in the area and what a sighting it will be the day we get photos of these elegant cats at ground level!
Exciting news, a female and her cub has been spotted a couple of times in the western section of Mashatu by our Ecotraining team. These two cheetahs appear to be a lot more skittish than our central area cheetahs but they did let the vehicle approach them to about 30-40 metres whilst they were feeding on an impala carcass.
